My name is Dr Emma Stewart and I am a Lecturer from the University of Strathclyde, UK. I am carrying out research on internet usage and the connections between the Eritrean diaspora. This research is INDEPENDENT and NOT connected to any specific website, political or religious groups. This project is funded by the University of Strathclyde and the British Academy. Below is some basic information about the project:
How? First, an online questionnaire was conducted from May to July 2007. Second, in-depth interviews were conducted in the US and UK during 2007-2008. **I would like to THANK EVERYONE WHO HAS HELPED ME**
What? The research will try to answer the following questions: · In what ways do members of the Eritrean diaspora use the Internet e.g. economic, political, social or cultural? · How does the use of the ‘cyberspace’ vary amongst the diaspora (e.g. gender/age/education/citizenship etc)? · How do relationships between the diaspora compare to those maintained with Eritrea? · How do virtual and non-virtual activities influence national and regional political processes?
Who? Emma Stewart is a Lecturer in the Department of Geography and Sociology, University of Strathclyde, UK.
