Draper and grocer. In 1866 bought part of the Old Hall estate at East Bergholt.

·       Herbert Harold Gooch (1883-1943), born 30 December 1883, Ipswich, died on war service 26 November 1943, buried at Croydon, married 29 March 1908, Battersea,Surrey, to Florence Ellen Brown of Westminster (1882-1956).   Awarded the MBE in the King George V New Year's Honours List, 1918. Secretary to the Quarter Master General.
