Venue The symposium will take place in the Court/Senate suite of the university, located in the Collins Building on Richmond Street. Please see the map for the building location. This is within a 5-10 minute walk of the student residences and Premier Travel Inn, and about the same distance from Queen Street Station. Visitors travelling by train from other parts of the UK will arrive into Central Station, a short taxi ride or a 15 minute walk from the Collins Building. The conference dinner will take place on the Thursday evening, at Ross Priory on the banks of Loch Lomond. Transport to and from the dinner will be provided. Travel to Glasgow Streetmap.co.uk link to central Glasgow showing train stations. Two airports serve the city: Glasgow International, about 10 miles from the city centre, and Prestwick, about 40 miles away in the Ayrshire countryside. Many taxis serve Glasgow International, and there is a regular airport bus service which runs about every 15 minutes during the day. Alight at the Queen Street station drop-off point. If you arrive into Prestwick, there is a half-hourly train service from the airport into Glasgow Central for most of the day. The journey time is about 45 minutes. International delegates may wish to note that recent legislation passed by the Scottish Executive forbids smoking in any covered public place, including all bars, restaurants, train stations and airports. |
