Chapter 12

There are no errors in Chapter 12 of the 4th edition currently known to the authors. The corrections below refer to mistakes in Chapter 12 of the THIRD EDITION of the textbook.

1. Page 408: Panels a and b of Figure 12.5 are incorrectly drawn. In panel a, the line YNe is shown as passing through point a, which it should not. In panel b, the line YNg is shown passing through point b, which it should not. The text at the bottom of the second column on page 408 needs corresponding amendment. The sentence ' Now draw YNg.......passing through b' should read 'Now draw YNg......passing through h', and the sentence immediately following, 'It cuts.......at h', should be deleted.

2. Page 414: Please refer to the middle table in the left-hand side column of Box 12.1 on page 414. The first and second column of the table currently read as:

The figures for Ci are wrong and should read as:

3. Page 438, Figure 12.9: In the box, the last two lines should read as "...alternative 2..." and "...alternative 3..." respectively.
