The Computational Fluid Dynamics and Fluid Structure Interaction Research Group (CFD & FSI-RG) is led by Dr Qing Xiao in the department of Naval Architecture, Ocean and Marine Engineering at University of Strathclyde. We currently focus on the following three main research directions:
The successfully developed research track records have seen her group success in securing a number of PhD scholarships, national and international funding and publishing 20 papers at prestigious international journals since 2007. Dr Xiao is the Editorial Board member of Ocean Engineering Journal, a senior Member of the AIAA, a Member of the ASME. She is also the session chair and Technical Programme Committee (TPC) Member of several International Conferences including OMAE and ISOPE. There are currently 7 PhD students and 1 Research Associate in our group. Several academic visitors have also been here for academic exchange programs.
We offer an interdisciplinary and international platform for postgraduate students as well as researchers with special programs for them to combine different interests, learn knowledge and skills on bio-inspired engineering, flexible wing and renewable energy, and also enhance their ability and competitiveness.
We provide an open hub for academic-industrial cooperation and bridging interdisciplinary communication and collaboration among different fields.
